The Nautilus, a luxury beach and ocean resort in Maldives, has won the ‘Hottest Independent Hotel’ award in the 2018 Vision Style Awards.
The awards, which are run by global textiles giant Vision Support Services, are an online incentive aimed at rewarding and recognising excellence in the interior design of hotels, restaurants, spas and bars around the world.
The awards were judged by a number of renowned and esteemed professionals from across the hospitality and travel industry, including:
- Lori Pinkerton-Rolet – Director of Park Grove Design
- Mark Wynne – International Sales Director for Vision’s Hospitality Division
- Nigel Haworth – Chef and Ambassador to the Northcote Group
- Abigail King – Award-Winning Photographer, Journalist and Blogger
- Bill Lumley – Editor of Luxury B&B Magazine
- Fraser Donaldson – Group Hospitality Sales & Marketing Director for Vision Support Services
The judges sat down and deliberated over three finalists, from each of the seven categories, in order to crown their final seven winners.
The winners of each of the seven categories will each receive a glass trophy and certificate, choice of champagne or hamper and cash voucher. They will also receive a double-page spread in Vision’s annual look-book and guide to hospitality interiors, The Vision Style Guide, due to be published in early 2019.
The Nautilus is set to open in January 2019.
With only 26 beach and ocean houses on a tiny coral reef-encircled island, The Nautilus is a bohemian hideaway located in Baa atoll, a UNESCO biosphere reserve. Here, a kaleidoscopic wonderland of incredible marine life awaits discovery: trips to world-renowned Hanifaru Bay to swim amongst whale sharks and manta rays; diving on iridescent coral reefs; exploring remote sandbanks and deserted islands or just cruising the ocean on a custom-built yacht are amongst the many adventures guests can look forward to.
At the three restaurants and poolside bar at The Nautilus, guests can explore ‘unscripted dining’, meaning the freedom to order off menu if that’s how they feel. The Nautilus is a world where a menu is just a place to gather inspiration and meals are designed for the guest, whenever they want to eat. Dining, for those wishing to follow chef’s suggestions, include intriguing infusions of Mediterranean and Middle Eastern cuisine at the over-water signature restaurant; elegant simplicity with Japanese and Latin-American creations at the grill; and global delicacies at the all-day dining restaurant.
The Nautilus sets guests on their own path to wellness, drawing on ancient wisdoms and modern innovations for a transformative journey in its four treatment rooms in the heart of the island. The spa specialises in the bespoke, designing wellness programmes and daily rituals that refresh and relax, pamper and protect.
